A little while ago I might have had a contender.

p3 800 on an old intel i810 board (no agp port)
running a voodoo 5(pci)
6 gig HD system drive
3com NIC.

Now my 2nd workstation.

It's sad to think PIII 800s are considered old. THEY DO EVERYTHING JUST FINE... still.

Now my brother's AMD K6-2/350MHz with 96MB PC100 won't even play the flash on my website (linked below) without studdering.

I'm running on an Epox MVP3G-M board with a K6-3/400 @ 112x4 =448MHz @ 2.6v

384mb PC100
18gb WD Expert
45gb IBM 75GXP (had it for over 2 years... it hasn't died, guess i'm one of the lucky ones)
Plexwriter 12/10/32A
Creative Labs RivaTNT
SB Live! Value
ADI ProVista 15" @ 1024x768x85Hz

Had most of this computer (few upgrades here and there.. HDD, ram, burner) for over 3 years now.. Still going strong. Can't see myself upgrading anytime soon.. No need.

It's been on 24/7 since I got it... Only shut it down a few times for a few hours. It's solid as a rock with Windows 2000.. even with the pound of dust bunnies in the case ;) All the original fans are still working...

I got a K6 233mhz with 4.3 gb hd, 64mb ram (maxed), and 2mg ATI integrated video sitting here beside me. Not really ghetto though, its IBM and I paid about $1700 for it back in the day. Actually does pretty good for surfing and email so I'm giving it to my lil cuz for Christmas. I'm just glad I'm fortunate enough to be able to have a faster box now.

:)

IBM sold you an AMD chip back in the day eh? I wasn't aware of this. ;) Back in 95 my mom financed an IBM Aptiva Pentium 166MHz with whatever else... only $2700. ;)

ah, but here was the kicker with this machine, no cd/no floppy. OS had to be installed via NIC. most apps had to be run from network. granted, it's got good horsepower, but no way to use it.

I have you all BEAT BY A MILE!

in my office we still use a TRS-80.

we are talking a 64k machine folks. This was probably made before most of you were even born. It only loads up with single sided, single density 5 1/4" floppy disks... yes and they are actually floppy.

sadly it it does the stimating for our pricing structure... if you can belive it. It has formulas that the owner has yet to replicate. Its a custom made estimating program based on LS-DOS, the predecessor to MS-DOS.

Here's the scary part. Only one floppy of the program remains and it is used on a daily basis. We can't copy it cuz we have no 2nd drive that will safely read and copy SS/SD 5 1/4" disks. I was only able to find one agency that will copy it but we would not have the prgram for weeks. I keep tellin the owner that it's going to bite him in the ass when that fragile disk bites it.... to deaf ears.

My wife Dell is pretty mixed bag.
Actually it used to be mine but now she uses it. She likes it so much that she does not want to trade it for the Dell 4550 $500 deal.

PII 266 with Intel LX board
512MB PC133 Kingston
Radeon 64MB VIVO
LNE100TX and CL Modem Blaster (just in case the cable went out)
SB Live Digital
LiteOn 40X12X48
Memorex 48X
Logitech Elite Keyboard with Optical mouse ($4 after MIR)
Win2k Pro
Dell E171FP 17" LCD

Somethings are JUST WRONG.

I had to point this out:

512MB PC 133? The PII 266 is running at a 66mhz bus speed....
RADEON 64MB VIVO?
Soundblaster LIVE?
Liteon 40x burner?

All these on a 266mhz machine??? Thats just weird.
