Just bought the Shuttle SN41G2 and put the following components in it. FNC Radeon 9700 Pro, XP2400+, Crucial 512MB 333Mhz mem, and a 20 Gig Maxtor ATA133 hd...

Ok, everything was going great last night for about an hour, then I realized that my 2400 was only being recognized as an 1800, and I remembered reading that you need to change the FSB to reflect that? So anyways, I change the FSB from 100Mhz to 166Mhz and reboot the computer. Ever since I can't boot. I get no beeps (never did in the first place) and I don't think it POSTs but I can't tell. I get nothing to the screen, no boot sequence, no BIOS. Did I fry my Crucial memory or what? Please tell me it's that and not the motherboard. Thanks.

I cleared the CMOS as instructed in the manual and it doesn't help, same results.

1) RTFM
2) 1-800-HLP-SHTL
3) 2400+ is a 266MHz (2x133) bus not 333 (2x166), unless you were trying to OC it but then I'd have to wonder WTF you were thinking jumping it from 200 (2x100) to 333 (2x166).

So you're saying I probably fried the XP then.

Off the top of my head that'd be my first guess. But it would also be RAM or mobo (or any/all of the above). Do the drives and/or fans spin up when you boot the system?

CD-Rom, HD, and all fans on mobo, processor, and video card all speed up. Could it have anything to do with my PSU? It got extremely hot last night.

So should I just assume it's the CPU and bite the bullet and order a new one? Or is there something more I can do to test it?

If the fans spin up, and nothing else happens, it could be the PS. Do you have a spare one to test it?

unplug the power source
reset the cmos with the jumper, leave it in that position 5 mins
re-seat every card and the ram and the cpu
try to boot
if it doesnt work, try parts alone, as in unplug all the drives etc and only use one stick of ram
try a diff cpu if you have one
try a different stick of ram
different video card

this is assuming your mb has error codes and you've checked them and you don't know what it is by that

I tried resetting everything. The manual for my mobo said to do the jumper for 5 seconds, not 5 minutes. Should I try that?

The shuttle PS is proprietary I think, and I don't have a spare anyways.
