why not 875 chipset P4C800-E deluxe

dont waste money on dual hard disks
just get one raptor and one 7200 (i think hitachi is better... at least THG says so)
dont waste money on video card-get ATI 9800 pro
get better case- Lian LI PC65

DONT OVERCLOCK-you system will be fast as hell anyways
get better processor-3.2P4
get low latency Corsair DDR400

how bout a soundcard, keyboard, mouse, speakers/headphones, monitor

px 712 isnt out yet... it think
those cables come with the motherboard
buy from newegg-those prices look high

I imagined someone actually saying this and pausing before every ":Q" to make that face

Good barebones, but I, like the others, would highly recommend making some considerable price drops, and you'd probably even get better performance.

Floppy: Well, a floppy is a floppy is a floppy. You don't plan on overclocking it (lol that'd be fun to see), and does it matter how noisy it is? How often do you *REALLY* use it? It needs to be black for your case, but that's all. $13 isn't that expensive in general, but it is for a floppy. $11 shipped via Newegg, but you could probably get one cheaper at a local discount hardware store (no shipping).

DVD-RW: HOLY CRAP. I don't even want to know where you shopped for THAT. Linked $115 shipped.

Video card: *faints* Um, if you want to spend that kind of money on a 5% gain for the next 3 months, be my guest. Half priced for same performance. $233 shipped, BBA. Go Sapphire for $21 cheaper, but slightly lower quality.

If you're really set on 10K SATA HDDs... (linked is the same as he mentioned) ... and you want the array, you don't need the storage drives, really. Unless you're harvesting all the pr0n on Kazaa, ~150GB should satisfy you a LONG TIME. If you *REALLY* need that much storage space, just use the 2x 250GB for your primary, they're fast enough - you won't notice the difference, really. 500GB of storage should NEVER EVER be filled up unless, like I said, you harvest all the pr0n in the history of the world ever.
