Yep. As long as they are fairly common words, and the first and last letters are where they're supposed to be, the meat of the word can be jumbled. I'm pretty sure I read that as the explanation on Snopes.

There is no rebuttal. It's actually true as long as:

The first and last letters stay in their respective places.
The words are used commonly.

i've actually taken a cognitive psychology course by one of the world's leading researchers in reading psychology, and his view is that there are a number of stages to proper perception, only one of which is the proper order. reading this is basically liking having a specific type of dsylexia.

If the search actually worked, if you searched for any of the mangled words ("Cmabrigde " for example) in your post, you'd probably find the other posts.

ok, couldn't find the link to the actual article but here, give this a try:

"Anidroccg to crad cniyrrag lcitsiugnis planoissefors at an uemannd, utisreviny in Bsitirh Cibmuloa, and crartnoy to the duoibus cmials of the ueticnd rcraeseh, a slpmie, macinahcel ioisrevnn of ianretnl cretcarahs araepps sneiciffut to csufnoe the eadyrevy oekoolnr."

too difficult? here's something 'easier' with "words that are used commonly":

"The cetupmor is ulbane to ccennot to the petnirr."
(but still not so easy, is it?)
