OK, so PIII 700->933 is iffy nowadays ... what about 650->866 ?

Is that almost a sure thing? Reason I ask is that the board I have has a 100Mhz bus, or a 133Mhz bus, but no in-betweens, so if the CPU I get doesn't overclock to 133Mhz I am SOL and have to go with rated CPU speed. If worse comes to worse and 650's are iffy too, I will simply get a 600 and go for 800.

Because he only has 100 and 133 bus speeds since he doesnt have an overclockers mobo.

If you get cB0 650, 866 is a sure thing. I have tried 6 700e cN0, and not all of them did 933Mhz especially if you want it to run 933 super rock stable. You will be taking some risk going with 700. Instead 650 is a pretty sure thing.

out of 3 *retail* chips, all have hit 933mhz no problems. however, most required 1.8 volts. hopefully your board supports this, if so the 700e retail would probably work... plus a 700mhz chip is better than a 650 if you cant get an overclock!

My 700E did 973mhz straight out of the box. Then I went water cooling now at 1001mhz . Does go into windows at 1022mhz but not stable enough
