ok, so my 6 yr old wants to play checkers every night lately.

🙂

it's interesting watching him learn the game. the irony of the game of course is, when he gets really good he will realize that it should always end in a tie.

now, that is correct right?? i was did a google search and i saw a bunch of winning at checkers. i always thought that checkers was like tic tac toe. you could only win if your opponent made a mistake.

i never liked checkers. teach him how to play chess and maybe one day he'll go up against kasparov.

chess is next. once he figures out the frustration of playing checkers i guess.

Here's a suggestion:

Play blackjack instead. teach him how to count cards. it's better than chess to get his brain working. not only will u be teaching him math, but also strategy

he is six years old.

checkers is great. you wanna be good enuf against him to teach him new things to look out for, but not beat him every time or he will get frustrated and never wanna play again. Do't teach him chess yet. Too much for a six year old to handle. He is, after all, only a little boy.

cool...i started a gambling ring in my junior high school. you can't imagine my frustration in trying to teach morons how to play the game. and don;t get me started on poker.

you'll be doing a big favor to whoever runs the gambling ring in your son's junior HS. and raise his allowance. i hated losing customers because they got grounded for knocking over the gumball machine for $.

I started teaching my son chess at 3 and now hes 6 and he knows the basics, His opening game is good, but his end game needs work. I want to get him in a chess club. Because you only can get better by playing someone stronger than you are, And he doesnt like playing against a computer. Chess is a excellant game to teach kids when there young they absorb everything FAST. BUT the day my son puts me in check is the day...Well nevermind.

Teach him blackjack and hold 'em, hopefully well enough so that he'll be able to relieve all his friends of their money when they get old enough to play.

What I did was get addicted to one of those collectible card games. Teaches you more math and strategy than you'd ever think. Also makes parents poor. 😛

It's a lot easier to make money with blackjack than chess.. Blackjack gets more chicks. Chess makes you crazy. I agree with the blackjack idea.
