First, system stats:
Mobo: Iwill KK266R
HD's: (1) Maxtor 60GB in 5 partitions:
1: 2GB - Win98SE
2: 2GB - Win2k
3: 4GB - WinXP SP1 (my main OS i boot into)
4: 46GB - File Storage
5: 2GB - WinXP (testing OS)
(1) IBM 10GB in 1 partition for File storage
(2) 80GB Western Digitals in RAID0
I've had this setup running perfectly for over a year, but i did something really stupid last night.... I was bored and had nothing else to do, so i do what all good computer guys do... Reinstall Win98. Every OS had a driver installed to properly recognize the stripe set, and as said previously, worked beautifully for the longest time. So i install Win98, and its doing its second boot (Setting up windows for the first time). Now dumbass me forgot to unplug my 2 HDs in the RAID, so Win98 is sitting here having no clue what the hell is going on with this drive. It tried checking it with ScanDisk, but i cancelled that right away, so that didnt touch it. Ok, so i finish booting into 98 for the first time. First thing i do is trash all the extra crap off the desktop, so i do that, and do empty recycle bin - and as always it says the recycle bin is in an invalid format, so i tell it to get into a valid format (whatever that means). Apparently Win98 likes to create recycle bins (folders) on each drive, so it decided to royally screw my RAID0 by putting a folder in there, where it definately should not have been, cause 98 had no clue what was going on with my RAID0 set. So now according to win98 i have this 2GB partition with nothing but a recycle bin in it. I boot into XP and it doesnt even recognize the drive "This is not a Windows XP disk - would you like to correct this". I said no, hoping i could fix it somehow. I open PartitionMagic and other programs, and it shows the 160GB partition, as full as it was b4 it got fuxored. So, something is in there correct, cause it shows the data being in there, but i can not get to it logically. Does anyone have any idea what i can do. I'm pretty sure if i tell scandisk or chkdsk to fix problems, its gonna screw things up more. If you guys can help me, please do so!!! i'm missing a lot of stuff on that drive!!!. Is there another website anywhere where i could find more help? Thanks!!!
