Ok, so I'm getting hooked on Planetside..........

This is my first MMO game, and I think I'm getting hooked to it. It is definitely one of the best gaming experiences I've had in a long, long time. I was unsure about it at first, but when you finally get through training, and take off on your first mission with squadmates, it becomes an experience. There's nothing out there quite like boarding a Galaxy transporter with 9 other people, then lifting off. The music just sets the tone.

Then, once you get to where you're going, watching the battle unfold on the ground as you fly over, it's just great. Earlier this morning, I was playing, and I was aboard a Galaxy heading toward an enemy base to take it over. On the way there, out in the middle of nowhere, an enemy vehicle was zipping over the terrain. Just a little 4-wheeler, a Wraith I beleive they're called. Of course, the gunner aboard started shooting at it. But it made the game surreal knowing that it was another person driving around on the ground, probably just messing around out in BFE.

Damn this game is awesome. We fellow ATers need to start an outfit or something. Who else is getting hooked on this game?

Planetside is on the right track but the execution is poor and there are still too many imposing factors in my eyes. MMORPG's still require too little skill and have too many kinks to work out. Things like safe zones need to go!

Anyway glad your enjoying it 🙂

how much is it a month? That's what always has kept me from MMORPGs.
$12.99. It's kinda high when you think about it, but I read something here I beleive it was that put it into perspective. This person commented on how when you go to the movies, it costs around $13 for 2 tickets, plus $7 for popcorn and a drink. And that's just for 2 hours of entertainment. Factor that in with other weekend's entertainment, and $13 for a whole month is a steal. Especially for how fun it is!

As for the comment of safe zones needing to go, why? I like how it is set up in this game. Each faction has it's own small continent, and is only accessed by that faction via one-way warp gates. All other continents are fair game, and it's great.

I played the beta. IMHO, sure at first its pretty fun and cool, but it gets boring fast. There really isn't any incentive to play. In other words, you don't get that "Rush home ASAP to play" feel (like what CS gave us 5 years ago).

What was CS incentive? Every 5 mins, the game starts all over again. This, the incentive is to take over your enemy land. And you're much closer with your squads because you can only choose one side.
