to replace the door for my office.

i want it to be a bookshelf. yes. a secret bookshelf door. awesome. pics to follow. if... someone has good instructions.

I guess it's not too much of a secret if you tell other people. 😱
But seriously, I love the concept of secret doors. It'd be nice if you could make them as complex as the puzzles in RPG/action video games. Like you have 5 jugs of varying materials and liquids and you must make them all equal in weight and then the bookshelf opens up.

Hinge the bookshelf so it comes outward?

hmm ok.

I'm thinking something that uses regular door hinges... but is inward.. and has hinges that unhook after pushed REALLY hard... sort of like a pen. hard to explain........

anyhow. yeahj

these are all designed around having other bookshelfs beside the door...........

ok.. this is foir like... hallway.. door.. bathroom... door... hmm.. hallway..... hemm bookshelf that's normal....

What, are you stoned or something?

anne frank did this and she got caught.... you what they say about history repeating itself right? you will get caught by the germans eventually.

you can put the bookshelf on regular door hinges, but you might have to shave a little off in certain spots so that it doesn't catch on anything.

you might want to use a few more hinges than just three like on a regular door. maybe as much as five or six, for added support. otherwise i'm not entirely sure how you would go about making a locking mechanism for something like that, maybe something as simple as a padelock (spelling?) or a combo lock will do the trick?

That guy did a pretty piss poor job of a "concealed" door...very obivous it's there.

I wouldnt have found it, especially if I was drunk and needed the loo.

Perhaps it's my background in carpentry. I've done pretty much everything from laying cement, buliding sheds, poolhouses, adding rooms to houses, roofing....oh such fun growing up with a father who was a big DIY'er 😛

My background in Wales defines a certain need for certain rooms to be obvious and easy to find for the befuddled! 🙂
