Ok, so I haven't worked out in awhile and am getting out of shape.

I haven't worked out in a long while (maybe 3 or 4 years) and I'm getting out of shape. I'd like to start jogging and lifting every morning again like I used to. I've probably lost most of my endurance already. What's the best way to start up again? I mean I can probably only run half a mile before I start heaving and breathing heavily and losing my breath. What's the best way to start building up that endurance again? In the couple of years I've been "dormant", I've grown an ugly pot-belly. What's a good way to work on my abs? I don't remember sit-ups helping that much back when I worked out. I did do crunches. Are those still the best things to do for ab development / workout?

Slowly. Starting with some cardio is good; running and jogging is good. To build endurance, a really good way is to practice sprint for 60 seconds, jog for 60 seconds, walk for 60 seconds. Then start reducing the time you walk by 10 seconds each time you want to up the ante. The sprint/jog combo, done for maybe half an hour, will wreck you but builds up stamina and endurance really well. And sweat too :D. Also, as a fan of rowing machines I'm going to have to recommend them; they're a great combination of cardio and resistance and you can scale the drag up as you start doing it, working some more resistance into your exercise before going onto weights. Pressups/pushups are great too. Sit-ups are good but they'll only tone the muscles; if you want to see them you'll need to lose weight first so get into that cardio, then you'll notice the situps working.

Just get to it. You'll figure it out, it's not the most complicated thing in the world.

I don't really eat that much. I usually have one or two meals a day (not big meals either), but they usually include rice (yes, Asian guy here). I'm not up to date on all the dietary stuff, but after looking around the net for a little bit it looks like it's not good to have rice all the time.

Just start running a little bit each day. It's probably one of the easiest things you can do, and one of the easiest to control. Remember though, you'll have push yourself a little bit if you want any kind of results.

I think my university's gym is free for us, but not sure if it's open 24/7. I can't run every morning since I have a job, but that's really the only time I can run outside since it gets so hot here. I'll work something out hopefully. I really want to start this.
