Well i have 2 athlon xp 1500+ and was thinking of finding a dual cpu mobo and seting these into it, is it worth it? also i have found a mobo on ebay for 2 athlon mp for $15 will these work in it? Will I see a performance increase? I have a desktop for web surfing and one as a home file server with 3 gigabit NIC working over time on it.

Will i see a performance increase on either one?

Thanks!

The MP/MPX platforms really aren't all that fast though. They only have a single channel of PC2100 for both of the CPUs to split. They will do ok for certain tasks that don't need much memory bandwidth, but they are going to be massively overpowered by anything even slightly newer.

aka1nas, he's most likely not even running DDR. Most people with processors/systems that are that old & slow are running SDR. I agree with you, though. It would make much more sense to spend $100 on a dual-core processor/motherboard combo, plus $50-$100 for DDR2 RAM. You'd get about 3x the performance, even if you didn't overclock.

The earliest Athlon XP processors were PC2100/PC2700 era. Athlon MP motherboards are likely to take DDR-RAM.
