Alright here it goes for all you smart people. I am looking for a new camera. I was looking at the Canon s30 but I think that $450 might be alot for as much I will use a camera. What in your mind is the best all around 2 MP digital camera. I what to spend around $250 but if you can sway me towards a camera that might be more expensive i will. Please be objective but don't put others down for there opinion!

have you checked the hot deals forum they have some decent deals.
anyways, i have the nikon coolpix 775 and it's 2.1MP. it's around $300 now i believe. it comes with a rechargeable battery and such. i love it. it's great. there are a lot of review sites for cameras too. i don't quite remember them. i'm sure someone else here does though. i think my friend has the s30 from canon. it's picture quality isn't so bad. i prefer the nikon one though as i compare his pictures to mine. but that's personal opinion. if you want examples i can email them to you from both cameras.

I also have the Nikon Coolpix 775. Posted some info about it here and also galleries In two months I've taken over 1500 pictures with it and have been quite pleased. Stick to the major brands (Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Fuji, Minolta) and you'll be happy. One thing you'll need to decide is if you need manual controls (focus, shutter speed, aperture) and the ability to use off-camera flashes. IMHO, if you need neither of these, the Nikon 775 is the best option and offers many accessory options (filters, slide adapter, add-on lenses, etc). I'll be happy to answer your specific questions if you're interested in this camera.

Looks Like there are alot of good links above me:p

I just bought an Olympus C3040 1.8 lens :p for 2MP I Like the Fuji 2800 6X optical zoom or the Olympus C-700 10X optical zoom.

but for a lil more you can get into the 3.4 MP range but not with them zooms though...

I have a Low end Sony and it bites except in good daylight :p

Nikons are good though just research the prices alot cause place to place there can be a HUGE difference!

read also peoples actual experiences as that is key to get a good feel on realworld results.

I just realized that I am talking out my arse sorry so choppy! :Q

I have a Canon IXUS V. Great camera for simple shots... 2.1 MP. Great photo's, I would like to get a new camera in the futere though as I would like something that has controlable shutter speeds and a few other features... I would also like a higher resolution camera. But that's what I need. The IXUS V is around $1000 Australian, so I would say it would be around $450 US. It takes short films with sound as well, which comes in handy! I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this camera to anyone who is in the market for a 2.1 MP camera.

The only thing with this camera that I have issues with is the Software package Canon provide. Zoom Browser EX is not very good at storing large database's. You will have to break up your Database so there is only about 200 photo's in each. The program always crashes when you have a really large database. :|
