Have you heard those? And if so, how do they sound? I'm looking at Paradigm Signature Series S8 speakers for my ultimate HT. Note that I said LOOKING. The S8s are, if I remember correctly, $6000 a pair and these are just the front speakers...maybe one day.

I run M&K myself. S-150's L/C/R and SS-150 Tri-Poles in the back with an MX-350 Sub.

LOVE em!

The Paradigms are kick-ass speakers too. I owned an older pair of Reference 60's before I picked up the M&K's.

Go for it nourdmrolNMT1!
What are you going to power these with?
I know the Extremis are monsters for upper bass, but are you going to pair them with a sub?

My ears aren't good enough to hear the difference from dropping a small fortune on speakers, so I'll never have to worry about this problem.
I still have 20/20 vision though, so I say go for the flat panel :D

Not bad, I can't wait to try out XBL^2 drivers...but I don't have the money to waste on speakers that have no resale value, sadly...gotta stick with the mainstream speakers. Of which, someone STILL needs to find me a pair of Dynaudio S1.4's or JMlab-Focal Electra 907 Be. ^_^

They probably sound really, REALLY good :)

I didn't know RAW acoustics was doing his own branded drivers... been a long time since I talked to Al ;)

I've heard the Extremis drivers were great, but I'm more of a pro driver guy myself. High sensitivity, low distortion, high max SPL :)

My dream HT system (not fully custom) would probably be something like:

Dipolar Precision Devices PD2450 on flat baffle handling 20Hz to about 200Hz
Dipolar JBL 2226H on flat baffle handling 200Hz to 1kHz
Monopolar JBL 2490H with a Geddes-designed phase plug and custom oblate spheroidal waveguide, also designed by Dr. Geddes, handling 1kHz to 2kHz
A compression driver handling treble, but I don't know which one... JBL's 045Be driver is nice, but it starts at 10kHz.

hmm so after talkin a lil with dan, w/ 50 wpc in a 13'x25'x8.5' room, you can easily get them over shouting level.

basically, w/ 70 wpc ill be looking at the output of 4 of their LCR's.

and if you need more output, I'd be really concerned about your long-term hearing.

that sounds mean.

damnit. hmm, i worked a 13.5 hour day today... thats good for 104$ b4 taxes.

hmm i wonder.

If you're worried about how loud this stuff is, get an SPL meter and check.

Ouch, I worked 13.5 hours on Sunday :(
(more like $205 before taxes for me though luckily)

Extra headroom is always nice :)

I just meant so you would have a number to go off of to check to see if it's a dangerous level.
