Ok, NEED some big help!

Ok, here's the deal. My mother was working 2 jobs because she was living alone now that all the kids are gone. Well, one of those was at McDonald's in the small town where she lives. Well here recently the people there had been giving her a hard time, in particular a girl who is like a year older than me. Well they finally pushed her too far and she quit. They then started rumors about her, and tried to get her fired from her other job.

She and a couple of other people at her other job called the police and asked if there were any charges being charged against her and they said no. Well today she found out that the girl is trying to claim that my mother threw the microphones they wear at her and hit her in the head, causing a bruise, and so she is suing my mother. My mother did not do this, instead she just threw the mic down and walked out.

She is going through hell over this totally false accusation.

What can I do, this is so horrible that I can't believe someone would do this to her.

Please help me and my mother to overcome this pathetic and vile act.

Lawyer - now.

Rumors are not just rumors, they are work place harrasment, and punishable by law. Slander I believe.

If the accuser didn't go to a doctor and have lifelong scars or damage to her skull you don't have anything to worry about. It's all BS.

It sounds like your mother doesn't have much, anyway. You can't squeeze blood from a turnip. (Not that your mother is a turnip. 😀)

EDIT: You should know better, Osorum. 😛

Ok, I know to call a laywer. What type should we look for. She will not be able to count on the lawyers around there, they are all spineless cronies who will not do anything.

She lives about an hour and a half from Topeka and about two and a half hours from Kansas City. I figure those are the two places to try for an attorney first.

Are there special lawyers who handle cases like this?

Thanks in advance for all the help people.

Dude, your mother doesn't have to do anything until AFTER she gets served papers. Be patient and don't spend money you don't have to.

You know what she said the exact thing about the turnip (I know its a saying but still).

The problem is that the girl will try to force other people into saying that they witnessed her doing this.

Does McDonald's keep surveillance tapes?

I know you people might be thinking that I'm overreacting but this is a big deal. She has already suffered through malpractice and almost lost her eye over the ordeal but because they changed documents and filled in things they hadn't before they were able to save their asses. I do not want her to have to go through something like that again.

She was served papers that she was being sued today. She has a hearing to determine is she'll have a court case on the 29th. I figure the best thing to do is be prepared. I wish she could find a lawyer who would be willing to countersue the girl to make sure that the girl never tries to do something like this to anybody else again.

Rumors are very commonplace around that town, and it has cause more than one person problems. These could destroy her reputation. I want to show the people in that town that there is no reason to keep doing stuff like that. Its horrible, but because she can't afford to move (she was saving, hence the reason for working 2 jobs), she can't leave that town.

Slander is extremly hard to prove unless she actually looses her other job. Best thing you can do is to not react and let it die out by itself. If you get served papers then call a lawyer, until then just tough it out. People forget it just takes time.

Sorry for freaking out.

Rumors in this town do Not die out, they will bury you. The people are like hyenas too. Once one person shows they can push someone around a lot of the rest of them try to do it as well. I've seen one too many good people who were honest and kind and didn't bother anyone basically have their lives destroyed over just plain rumors in this town.

The shifty kind. Hire yourself the meanest, most ruthless pitbull of a lawyer that your money can buy. Then have him counter-sue EVERYBODY. If you pick the right guy, he'll shake some money loose somewhere and your Mom can move out of that backwater sh!thole and into a real town where throwing stuff at somebody doesn't make you a pariah.

Don't forget to go after McD's for allowing the work-place harrassment.

Actually, if the other employees are in the gig to oust your mom, you better higher a freakin good lawyer. If this goes to court and they all testify saying that a microphone had been thrown at her head, unless there's a vid tape proving otherwise, the testimonies will certainly hold IF she has proof of the wound.

And about that good lawyer, you can ask him/her to look deeper into the matter as a conspiracy case against your mother.
