hi, after finally getting to boot (it was shorting out against the case before, i discovered), i was presented with the asus a8v splashscreen, then the main startup bit, where it detects harddrives, ram, and says Press delete to enter setup. it then goes on to "detecting IDE devices" for the "Fastrack Controller" - have no clue what this is.. Then it says No bios found!

Then it just says Cmos checksum failed
Chassis intrusion detected
System halted

🙁 any ideas?
 
You probably have to go into the bios to do the inital setup could be the reason why for cmos checksum failes, if not get the latest bios and update it.
The No Bios found -> is part of the fasttrake sataraid controller that is part of the board. if there is no drives connected to it, it does not load and says no bios.
The Chassis intrucsion detected is a setting in the bios that you have to turn off, or you accendently removed the jumper off that turns it on Page 2-31 in the manual
