OK...maybe this is dumb but I must ask!

what type of screen saver? 3d screen savers will take most of the spare cpu time. 2d ones don't use as much but still use cpu time. Just don't use a screen saver if possible, i don't 🙂.
 
Damn, ok...I will just tell my monitor to go to sleep after an hour or so and not use a SS! Thanks!
