You can use binomial series to solve for i. Although I am not sure of it myself.

1 and -1 gets canceled.. and after you divide the rest with i(denominator) you'll be left with and expansion n+n(n-1)i/2!....

IIRC it's stupid to solve for i, everybody just iterates. Hell, even financial calculators iterate to find i instead of solving.

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I would like the formula rewritten with 'i' by itself on one side of the equal sign.

Why? They are giving you the interest rate (i), as well as all of the other variables. The equation's solution depends on them giving you at least two of them. What is your point?

I am not looking for a specific answer. I was wanting the general formula rewritten for 'i'.
