Ok, I've narrowed it down to Verizon... need a phone?

ive got sprint, just got a Sanyo 5400 (RL2500) yesterday...
my plan with Sprint is unlimited NW minutes, 600 Anytime minutes, night time starts at 8PM, all for $35.99/ month..

My friend just signed up with sprint and got the Sanyo 5500 (VM4500) for 50$ after Rebate, and he just got his plan changed today, this is what he got...
750 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night & WEekend minutes
Night Times start at 8 PM instead of 9
$32.99/month
just got the plan today by going to their retention center and trying to cancel..

And the Sanyo phones work 10 times better on the sprint network than the last samsung phone i had (A460)...

Man, what's with the guys just starting out getting Retention plans? And how could your friend get a 5500 and not get Vision? Seems totally wasteful to me.

Isn't that like saying nothing at all ?

No, dumbass. I honestly don't understand why people "narrow down" their serches to Verizon. Are they TRYING to waste money? Verizon doesn't even have outstanding phones like Sprint does! Even though you pay too much with Sprint, too, atleast you get a kickass phone.
So they were right... you are an asshole. I hope you never denied it. That would just raise your hypocrisy rating 1 more notch.

Sprint has terrible service. I was a customer for 4.5 years. Verizon is a god-send. Service first, phone next.

And I was a Verizon customer and had terrible service.

The only good thing about Sprint is their phones. That's what I said before, and that's what I'm saying now. Don't twist my words or read into them. Take them at face value. Verizon boasts the best network in the states, but they've got as many dead zones as other people. Some areas have more than most, some have less than most. Every carrier has their dead spots in service. The amount of money that you pay for a price plan with Verizon can easily be taken to another carrier and had for more minutes/features/shorter contract.

You've got to be reasonable here. It is very possible that they have that many dead zones where you live, but no one except Cingular touchs Verizon down here. They probably even beat Cingular especially when you get down into Central Florida. You have to remember that Verizon is more of an East coast company and you are WAY out West. Verizon is superior for anyone that lives on the east coast or for most in the southeast. Also, Verizon's large network(over 30 million) and new free mobile to mobile makes them a superior choice even plan wise.

he got vision for 2 months free for now.. he'll see afterwards if he's going to keep it..

edit: oh yeah, ive had sprint for about two years now.. my friend did just sign up though and im jealous of his plan.. but im still happy with mine...

I have Verizon, but i agree that verizon is expensive and their phones are outdated. If i didn't have verizon, i would definately go with Sprint. I really like the 8100... My brother has Sprint and the coverage is pretty good most of the time.

For $5 a month with sprint you can use half of your minutes to roam at no extra charge. That and the lack of phones convinced a friend of mine to switch.

I had Sprint with Vision for a good while and I had non-Vision Sprint with Wireless web for several years. By far Sprint sucks because of their terrible CS, terrible coverage, and the fact that they may have nice phones, but the features are limited by Sprint.

That's cool... i have until October of next year to stay with Verizon. But if Sprint continues to get better coverage and more minutes, then i'll probably drop Verizon. I like how Sprint has those great deals with the retention plans.

OMG, i'm gonna have a fvcking heart attack. Mill as the voice of reason. 😉

btw, you have to be a dumbass to make that kind of statement regarding ANY phone carrier without know something about the area they are in.

Sprint SUCKS out here on the east coast but is reasonably good in CA. i understand why someone would want to buy Sprint on the west coast, but no intelligent person would buy sprint here in the NE, either Verizon or ATT.

I pay for it because it is better in my area. SID 00026, what is now Verizon's network, is one of the original two 800MHz cellular licences in my area. With the inherently better indoor signal penetration of 800 MHz combined with Verizon's A1 engineering and investment in its network, I've got a winning combo.

I understand that T-Mobile is pretty good too, but with T-Mobile being a 1900 MHz network, and based on my previous experience with Sprint PCS, also a 1900 MHz network, I doubt T-Mobile could possibly work as well as Verizon inside all the downtown buildings I go to. It works so consistently well that I'm not in the habit of checking to see if I have a good signal before I dial anymore, a habit I developed while using Sprint PCS.

What's the lowest $ "full feature" plan all the companies offer? (Full-feature meaning mobile to mobile calling, unlimited nights and weekends, long distance, in network roaming, etc., are included in the base price.) It's about $35-40, right? Well, that's what I pay too. But then I don't need 800 minutes either, so the lowest VZW America's Choice that has free LD, M2M, and free nationwide in-network/preferred-network roaming suits me perfectly. I don't think I over-pay at all.

I thought Millenium got banned a long time ago??

Who cares if you can have more minutes w/ a different provider but then you have no reception!

Verizon all the way.

I decided on Verizon due to their much wider coverage area in NY and the free in-network calling. My parents, gf, and a bunch of my friends use Verizon. So I can essentially call them for free.

I decided on Verizon because they had the best bang for the buck at the $40-45 pricepoint when I signed up for my plan. No one was doing $40 a month for 600 anytimes/unlimited night weekends/long distance, etc. at the time. In fact, I haven't seen Verizon do it since. It was one of the "Promotional" offers. Although the 1000 Anytime local package for $50 almost made me change and renew.

Oh, and the fact that Sprint didn't work in half of my county, and I've yet to see "No Service" anywhere on my Verizon phones over the last year and a half.

IMO Verizon has the best, friendliest CS and the best coverage. I travel a lot for work, and have used my Verizon phone in Seattle/Tacoma, Spokane WA, the SF bay area, Chicago, NYC, Long Island NY, Minneapolis, Montgomery AL, Birmingham AL, Atlanta, Burlington VT, Rapid City SD, Great Falls MT, Salt Lake City UT and Ogden UT, all wthout problems or roaming charges. My colleagues with Cingular, Sprint, or AT&T have all experienced problems in one or more of these places.

I don't really care about playing Doom 3 on my phone - I pretty well want it to, well, let me talk to people. Verizon has any number of perfectly good phones at reasonable prices. I have used an old StarTac and a Samsung A-310, as well as using friends' V60s, and all worked well. If I were starting from ground zero, I would probably get a V60 with Verizon.
