First i get this mb and it won't post with a 90nm 939

then i get the 939 90nm traded for a 939 130nm cpu it posts.

it runs ok but only with 1 stick of memory. :(

so i flash it, it says flash successful, reboot,

NO GD POST. GFDI.

so i get no post no matter what i do, so i send the chip in to www.badflash.com and they flash it for me.

i get it back, it posts but freezes at Memory Initialization.

FVCK THIS CR@P.

I'm thinking of buying $500.00 worth of hardware from http://www.mwave.com.
1 Asus A8N-SLI (Nforce4 SLI MB)
2 sticks of DDR400 512 mb ram (1 gb total)
1 AOpen GF6600DV PCI Express vid card.

what do you guys think? worth it?

i've had nothing but problems with this MSI Neo2 Platinum MB.

edit

i'll rma the board then sell off all the components. someone offered me 2 opteron 244's, 1 gb ecc ram, MSI K8T MASTER2-FAR MS-9130 and a EPS Power supply for $800.00.

i'll probably buy that, sell this stuff off. no more of the 939 for me.

From what I've heard, the MSI Neo boards are hit or miss.

Personally, I like the Asus boards. I've been using an Asus P4P800 Deluxe for over a year and a half now, and its been an incredible board. :)

Why don't you try to RMA the board and get another one? That wouldn't cost you anything, and you'd be waiting the same time for a replacement MSI board in the mail as you would for your new board to come in.

I don't think SLI is really worth the outrageous price premium unless you're going to go with dual very high end cards.

You have SATA hard drives? I was having a bunch of problems (random crashes, when it would completly shut down, not just reboot) when I had a HD plugged into SATA1. As soon as I have been using SATA3, I've been stable. Just what my problem was...

i have 2 sticks Kingston ValueRam

and 1 stick SuperTalent Ram.

they both worked if i only put one stick in before flashing bios.

Yah I agree with these guys. You have to try replacing everything before deciding that the mobo is bad. That being said I have had bad luck with MSI in the past. I had to RMA 2 of them.

I got a MSI k8n neo2 platnum, with 64bit 3000 socket 939. It works beautifully. Its amazing for overclocking too. I say RMA the board. I do not think it is worth buying a compltely new system yet with prices so high, wait a bit for the prices to fall. Rma it in the mean time. And iw ould check some reviews ont he AOPEN GPU you are looking at. I never liked Aopen.

Ditto here. Best MOBO I ever had.

I have the Neo2, work fine. RMA the board. Also, strongly recommend using 2 sticks of memory. It's in the manual. The bios had a problem with locating the SATA drive, but the latest version fixes that. Hope this helps.

Clentz and I just recently had a discussion about that board. I had a hell of a time with it at first. I thought it was a bad board, but it's just very picky.

I had a K8N Neo Plat. 754, hated the thing when I first got it. The CPU temps it gave were wrong, couldnt run my 9600 pro in agp 8x without games freezing, and those all got very very annoying. After a while they all ironed out...but that the board died (could have been my CPu too, but it was covered in thermal paste so I couldnt get the serial number). I RMA's, so hopefully the new one will be better than the old one.

Damn that is an awesome price! Jump on it quick is my advice. I have it with 2x242@1.725ghz, with 244s you should be able to manage around 246 speed, for $800 that is just outstanding
