i used to like dathorn, but their performance the last couple of weeks has just been HORRIBLE.

mb i'll go back to Hostway and pay them $30 a month, they are very very good tho.

Hostway hosts the company I work for site. I cant spend $30/month, but what i've seen they charge for extras where others dont :(

no doubt, hostway is expensive. i don't question that at all, but they are about the best i've seen as far as uptime etc.

Tell me about it... I host 15 domains for various people, moving all of the files + databases would be a PITA.

Going back to HostWay for $30/mo, LOL.

Any decent web host will offer to move all your existing sites, emails and databases for free (or a small fee).

There are a few other web hosts I would consider:
  • ThrillHost.com - I am a former customer just before midPhase bought them out. There are about 2 dozen current ThrillHost customers here and most of them seem happy considering they're paying $10/mo for 3GB/30GB (an old Hot Deal which is now expired). If you sign up with ThrillHost.com REQUEST that your account NOT be placed on a Burst/Nocster server.
  • Eurofficial.com - used to be "the talk of the town" on WHT, not sure what happened to all the buzz. There is a Hot Deal offering 50% off any Eurofficial resellers plan, PM me with your e-mail address if you are interested.
  • BlueWho.com - is probably the most reputable web host in this list, they're like a mini-HTTPme.com You're not going to get as many resources as the other web hosts but they run a very solid operation, great tech support, solid reliability and uptime.
  • P4Host.com - I've read a few good reviews on WHT but have no personal experience with them. It would be nice if some AT'ers could sign up for P4Host and let the rest of us know how they rate.
  • UltraUnix.net - I've saved the best Hot Deal for last.
They offer 2.5GB disk space, 25GB bandwidth, resellers account for $13.99/mo with $15 setup fee (which is new to me, I have e-mailed their sales to clarify this isn't a typo). There is no committment or obligation, month to month. If you pre-pay for 10 months you get 2 months for free. It's always a good idea to use a web host for a few months before making the plunge to pre-pay for 1 year.
Server specs: Dual XEON, 2GB DDR RAM, 2x36GB SCSI Hard Drives (most web hosts use P4 with IDE).
Data center: CyberWurx in Atlanta, GA which is reputable, reliable, fast with great uptime.
If you'd like to test the server speed here is a 15MB speed test file
Last but not least you get Fantastico auto installer scripts, so if you or your clients want to install forum software, pichosting, a blog or web site portal you can do it without about 3 clicks of your mouse.

I hope that information helps you choose a new provider. If you're not going to use more than 1GB/15GB I would definitely sign up with BlueWho.com, otherwise go with UU.

It's been fine for me also but I'm one of the lucky one's who's located on cpanel05 server which has averaged 99.780% uptime so far this year.
