Blaupunkt Nevada

how about this one? it's got good reviews on carreview.com, it's got detacheable face and 2 sets of pre-amp outs. that's all i want. blaupunkt has gotta be better than jensen, which i was previously looking at. and 150 for this is not a bad price, considering i get installation stuff. what do you think?

Its a decent deck...better than jensen. Not too bad for 150 though. As long as it has the features your looking for..i say go for it. You might wanna check out some of the clarions too. Check out soundhabit.com and carmedia1.com for some of the best prices.

What's your spending limit? Spending 50-100 dollars more will net you a much better reciever.

Nope it's bad. Get the JVC750 something. I bought it with free installation at best buy for 169$. And am very happy with it.

ok, umm, it's bad because you bought a JVCsomethingsomething? how does that make this one bad?

also, how will spending an extra 50-100 bucks get me a much better reciever? i.e. what features/performance will i gain with that?

Well, the only Blau I would get is either the Casablanca or the Tokyo/Munchen. The best luck that I've had with car stereo receivers is with Pioneer or Sony. Kenwoods are good, but anything with a motorized face can get you in trouble when the warranty runs out. In fact, one of the dealers here doesn't recommend anything with a motorized face because of that. Clarions are okay, but they mostly look pretty.

Me, I would get a Pioneer DEH-P4100. You get your second set of preamps, a nice display (superior to Blau's european style decks in my opinion), and a remote.

Or, if you go Crutchfield, take advantage of the four pay plan and spend a little bit more money. With 4 payments, it's pretty easy to afford a more expensive receiver.

Elite Car Audio is a good place to ask questions about car stereo. A lot of people that know way more than I do about such things.
Also, if you're going the diy route, try Sound Domain. They have some decent prices and good warranty stuff. I've heard that dealing with Crutchfield can be a pain.

If you just need a basic deck then this one is fine, but if your an audiophile i wouldnt suggest anything under 500 bucks :D
I just got a Blaupunkt Boston CD189 couple days for around 120 bucks at this liquidation sale(retail is 210), i just couldnt pass up this offer since my stock deck likes to eat my cd's, and all i needed was a basic deck.

Btw that nevada deck comes in 4 colors, maybe you'd like the blue/red/yellow one better.

By the way it costs 150$Blaupunkt-169 for Jvc 20$more not 50 to 100 + it has a remote and + bbe2 whcih sounds pretty good and a greater FM sensibility! Look at the Blaupunkt it's a mess one color dispaly it's really bad Jvc KDSX750 has multicolr display which looks very good + you can use it with a CD changer later! It says 189$ but i got for 169$ At best buy.!
The only downside of the JVC i noticed was that it had small buttons. But if you don't weigh 450 pound or use huge glasses it very user friendly!

first off, i don't respect your opinion, atomic, because of your oil thread. now for what you brought up:
1. remote in a car? what the fvck is the point?! the reciever is WITHIN ARMS REACH. that's like using a remote for your tv when you're sitting 2 feet from it.
2. looks are subjective. don't care what you like.
3. what's bbe2? some kind of bass boost? every reciever has that.
4. everyone says this blaupunkt's digital tuner is one of the most capable out there.

well, i guess i'm buying this.

First of all BBE2 is a sound clarifier. The sound is much more precise. (remote might be needed for the passengers in the back seat )
My other topic doesn't have anything in common with this one, so let's forget about it. If you want to buy garbage go ahead i don't care, i told you what a good car receiver is, you could also buy the sony (149$) which is still better than the blaupunkt.

Alot of the clarions do look flashy, but they are also some of the best sounding decks out there. The clarion 9255 and the 9675 are very good sq wise. I believe the 9255 was designe by Macintosh for clarion. I use to have a clarion arx9170 which had a motorized face..I had that one for 4 years before i sold it. The motorized face never went bad on me. Crutchfield also has the best customer service out there. Easy returns and if you got any questions, jus give em a call. They were alot of help when i first got my stereo a few years ago. As long as the deck has the features you like and you like the display..i say go for it. After all...its gonna be in your car and ur gonna be the one using it. The remote for decks are good when you are adjusting ur gains from the trunk and need to do stuff with the deck....or its good for people in the back seat to mess with ur deck.

It's safer to have the remote while you're driving around than screwing around with the buttons on the face. Granted, you're not likely to get in a wreck, but looking away from the road for a split second at the wrong second can cost you or someone else their life.

well, ok about the remote. but still, a button that makes sound so much more "precise?" that's so vague. if it works so great, why is it even a button? why isn't it just on all the time? and no, i don't believe it is garbage. when i add my external amp, i'll be giving it a 3.0v signal, instead of the crappy 2.0v signal your jvc puts out. i'll have a parametric EQ in addition to bass, treble and loudness, instead of some "precise" button. i'll have RDS, in case anyone sends out that signal. yadda yadda yadda, thanks for everyone's help (cept atomicman), but i think i'll go with this one. can't spend 500 bucks on a reciever! :)

Atomicman how can you say that one deck is god and one is garbage when their in the same price range and in the same low-end range?
For 150 bucks your not going to get a deck with crystal clear sound, all you'll get is a basic deck and thats it.
Imo a pioneer p9200r deck is god, while the jvc 750 is garbage.

My CD changer came with a remote which I thought was kind of ridiculous until I started using it. It's much safer to put the remote in the cup holder and then when you want to flip around through the CDs, you just pick it up and slide your thumb around the buttons. You can browse or program away without taking your eyes of the road. Very useful.

Finally somebody understands!
I didn't really mean to say that it's garbage but by paying 30 $ more you will get more features and better sound! I already told if you wanted to buy it buy i don't care!! So why are you asking this question if you don't want to listen to what people have got to say !

atomicman, you're a dumb ass and dont know what you're talking about...i bet my system sounds a helluva lot better than yours does..

Triumph, i'd have to suggest to you to spend a few bucks more and get a Pioneer DEH-P3100 or the P4100....i have the P3100 and it's a great deck!

It only has one set of preouts, but you can always use a y-splitter and split the preout into two preouts..
YOu may pay a little more, but you'll be getting a higher-quality deck...

the p3100 also has a detachable face, and 2.2v preouts, which is good enough for me, and my system sounds awesome...

in the end, it's all up to you man,

i'd personally stay away from the lower-end JVC stuff....if you went w/ JVC you'd wanna go for the El Kameleon decks...but those things start at $250...
