Noticed an almost $20 drop in price for an Athlon 1.2GHz/266 today. Took a look at pricewatch, all current AMD chips dropped in price. Is somethin commin down the pipe? We just had a release.
I've been thinkin about going to 1.2GHz, today I bought the chip. A $120 is $25 less then what I paid for my 800MHz.

1.4 has been out for about 1 week now--OEM vendors are probably trying to push out the old and add more space for the newer Athlon and Duron chips.

Hey, it's technology--things will always drop. I remember my first system: Intel 80286 SX with 4MB of RAM, serial mouse.... $4,000.

Since I've been thinking about gettin a 1.2GHz, I've been watching the prices pretty closely. It dropped about $15 when the 1.4GHz was anounced. I checked the price at about noon PST, it was about $140. Checked it at about 6pm PST and it had dropped $20. If they are trying to move stock to clear the shelves for the new chips, they should be pretty bare by the time the next schedualed release comes (late summer for desktop Palameno?).
I'm not complaining, after talking with a friend we decided to upgrade at $140 per CPU it was a nice surprise to get them for $120.
