OK, in retrospect. Magic firing Doc Rivers. Just plain STUPID or what?

Magic have managed to lose 7 straight after firing Doc Rivers.

Does anyone really feel like it was DOCS fault that the Magic sucked??

And WTF is McGrady? The boy has to step up if he want's to be considered a GREAT.

Personally, I've never understood the logic behind many of the firings in professional and college sports. It seems like many times it's more because somebody has a personal axe to grind than any sort of performance results. A coach can only do so much if they have a poor bench to work with.

Firing Rivers was dumb. He wasnt the cause for the sucktitude. TMac is having troubles against zone defenses and I think the teams problems are really affecting him. Im not sure if McGrady has the mental makeup to be a team leader. I was watching the TWovles/Magic game awhile back when he scored like 4 points. He got yanked in the 4th quarter and cameras showed him on the bench laughing like they were up by 20 instead of losing by 20. To me this doesnt show the leadership that this team sorely needs.

agreed, TMac shows a definite lack of leadership. his complete silence when Rivers was fired also testifies to his lack of leadership.

I also heard that Doc Rivers confronted management and told them, Leave him alone or fire him.

Front office made some pretty mediocre trades.

Magic is having trouble against the zone because they have no outside shooters. McGrady can only do so much when he has 3-4 people collapse on him when he drives in.

if that is so, changing the coach will do jacksh!t for them.

that's primarily a General Manager responsibility, to field players that can be effective.

the coach can only put schemes in.
