OK, what if Saddam steps up and admits that Rummy knew all along there were no WMD's and the whole thing was just a conspiracy to drive up oil prices world wide?

HEY, kind of fun isn't it?

So, do you still believe the WMD fairy tale?

Do you believe that the Iraqi government is a puppet of the U.S., to be manipulated at our will?

Do you think that interfering with due process in Iraq sets the proper tone for a democratic government there (much like our interfering with a free press)?

Do you think that Sadaam currently has anything more than figurehead status in the state of affairs in Iraq?

Do you think that Sadamm's previous position of power derived from anything other than his ability to ruthlessly deal with everyone who did not conform to his wishes?

Such are the things an adult might have considered before posting such drivel.

Not saying we free him, but instead of hanging him, why not try putting him to use?

Just a question.

EDIT: BTW if this idea worked and we had peace then the troops would get to come home. I thought that is what everyone wanted?

We listened to Iraq and allowed a militia to kill civillians because the Iraq Admin did not want us to hold them back. Yeah, we do listen.

I think under Iraqi law you cannot execute a person who has reached their 70th birthday.. Saddam was born in April of 1937... hehehehhe

The review process should take eight or nine months.. soooooooooo.. unless they can create some sort of 'quick review' ... Saddam should not be too worried about that aspect of his future..

Edit: I guess I should add that his actual birthday is unrecorded due to the nature of his youth.. he was born sometime between 1935 and as late as 1939 but generally accepted by the government of Saddam and now is the 1937 date..
Btw.. it is appropriate to refer to him as Saddam.. the other names are those of his father and grandfather and his birth place.. It don't mean he is a friend or enemy.... that is his name..

Since it's getting close to the end of the year, we need to start making nominations.

I nominate this as the worst thread ever posted by the biggest sucker Republican tool ever.

The Iraqi government has already provided an out.

Give them full authority and they will crush the insurgency in six months.

Just another totalitarian regime. Much like the one the US setup in Iran.

Essentially that would be planting the seeds for more terrorists. That's the bad news and that's long term.

Short term you can get the fvck out of Iraq. Except for the ten or so thousand troops that will remain in bases. Like they do in over 130 other nations.

Martin, they're not golden egg laying hens, they're golden egg laying gooses. Please get your poultry correct.:)

Gooses?
Shouldn't that be Geese? :D

And PJ:

But I'm sure we can still find them. I hear they're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

In this case, they were golden chicken hawks laying their eggs in Halliburton's basket. :frown:

Maybe Saddam will offer to trade his life for that of Osama Bin Forgotten. Since the Bushies tried SO hard to link them together, it MUST be true...Remember, Iraq = 9-11 OR, could OBF be working on that Crawford ranch incognito??

that would be a good idea assuming
1. There was even any WMD to start with (which is unlikely)
2. We have the ability to influence the Iraqi court
3. Saddam can indeed call for an end to the violence
4. The troop gets to go home after that

Isn't this exactly what bush did in 2003 :)?

i personally think putting saddam back in charge would be the most rational course of action. There are other butchers vying for power in iraq now, sure, but they dont have saddam's dramatic flair and 18 look alikes.

Topic Summary: What do you think about this idea?

What if Bush offered to spare Saddam his life if he showed us where the WMD were and made some public statements calling for an end to violence etc.

How would you feel about this?
What if we offered Saddam his life if he called for an end to violence and gave up any claim to being leader of Iraq, at which point we take him out of Iraq and place him in some nice prision for the rest of his life.

Do you think there is a chance we could use Saddam as a way to create peace, but still keep him in jail?
Heck half of Europe does not want him hung. So it would make them happy as well.

Any ideas?

Wow, at least for a change you really are showing how little you expect of your heroes.
