Ok...I'm sure this has been discussed before...

But I'm about ready to upgrade my Hercules Geforce II MX. I use the PC about half the time for games but I also want decent 2D performance. I really don't want to go over $150. I've been looking at the Gainward Cardexpert Geforce2 Pro at Newegg.com They've got it for $129 shipped. I've got a 1.2GHz TBird (check the rest of my specsfor more detail if you need it) so is the bottleneckin my system really the graphics card?

Of course, everything runs fine for me now, I'd just like to get a little better performance in higher resolutions (1024x768 and up). Plus it kinda makes me mad that there are tests 3DMark can't even do!

Any recommendations/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Your 6 year old kid has a better video card then you? Why just not trade it around with him. Little kid games aren't that graphic demanding. Well atleast not the last time when I saw Freddie Fish swimming across the scream 😀.

Just an idea to save you some money.

The GeForce3 Ti200 would probably be a better card for 2D work. The 2D reviews have favored the GeForce3 cards in the past. Pricewatch has the Ti200 listed at $185 with shipping. I bet the price will be lower once the new ATI cards get reviewed and are out everwhere. Tom's Hardware has a nice chart and review of the new GeForce cards.
