Alrighty, I need the infinite wisdom of the Anandtechers to help me out.

I got the call to assemble a PC for a friend. Perfect oppertunity to do the old "give em my reliable old stuff so I can beta test the new stuff"

So I am thinking about the Duron / T-bird plunge. Problem is... I have 256MB PC100 that I don't wanna replace. Do the KT boards (I'm looking at the ABIT or the ASUS) allow you to run PC100?

In addition, I have a Geforce2 GTS (purchased from DecoY on the FS forums, it's an OEM version possibly from Creative).

I've read alot of complaints of Geforce not liking these boards, or vice versa.

Anyone got any suggestions or care to fill me in on the latest gossup? I've got to get an order in soon and have been actually working at work (as opposed to reading Anandtech :)

thx

Of course the boards support PC100. The Athlon CPUs only use a 100 MHz memory signal anyway. The only time that using PC133 would come into play is so you can run the bus speeds asynchronously. Helps some for AGP 4X, but that's about it.

GeForce2 should work fine with the board, and since you'll be using the PC100 RAM just make sure that you disable AGP 4X mode and use the latest drivers. You won't notice the difference.

Thx Guru.

I'm figuring on going with the Asus, I just assembled a few P3 550E -> 733 machines with the P3V4X and the quality seemed pretty good.

Hopefully I can get a nice overclocking Duron!
