Just ordered a camera from amazon.com. I just got the confirmation that it shipped.

Never would I have thought they would send my camera through the USPS.

So will this be signature required or are they just gonna drop it in the box and pray noone steals it?

Edit:

My concern wasn't USPS - it was the fact it wasn't signature required. They do have tracking, but it isn't exact. So I can't know 'exactly' when to be home to get the camera. I just feel that for expensive items, it should be sent signature required. I personally don't even know my mailperson, and it seems to change often, so I can't rely on the fact that they won't just leave the merchandise behind my door. Of course, it 'probably' wouldn't be stolen. However, I would not voluntarily leave a couple of hundred dollar camera out all day unsecured.

So in redux - I'm upset that expensive items are sent out without signature confirmation.

Oooooo which camera?

I personally really like USPS. I have something of a relationship with the delivery guy, and if I'm not at home he either puts that package in the back patio per my request, or leaves a note on my door telling me when I can pick it up at the post office and when they'll try a redelivery.

Dude, how many threads are you going to start on this topic?

If you wanted a specific shipping service, you should have paid for two day shipping.

End of story, quit whining.

It's probably shipped with delivery confirmation, but not signature confirmation. Where the hell do you live, so that you feel the need that you need to stop all your mail, just so that one package doesn't sit on your steps for a little bit?

It is not so much that I 'think' something would happen, it is the fact that something 'could' happen. Lots of kids, teens, etc - going and coming around the house. . .

Then I can see the 'hassle' if it were delivered and stolen - trying to prove that and getting another. . .

I would stay home from work till the camera arrives. And wait at the curb for the mailman to come..

I ordered a camera too and they sent it through USPS. I got here today but wasn't home. They would re-deliver it tomorrow or I can go pick it up (the nearest office is only a few blocks away). I love USPS.

Of course their isn't. I didn't say that. I like USPS. My problem is that they did not make it a 'signature required' delivery. If they had done that, there would be no problem.

What I sometimes do is take a sticky note, write a message on it telling the USPS guy what to do with the package, and post it on the door. Then I'm free to leave.

"Please leave package in back patio."

"Please keep package at Post Office and I'll come pick it up. Do not leave at front door."

what's the big deal with signature required? common sense > signature required. I live in a safe neighborhood and I hate to sign for the packages. my delivery guys get it, they all drop their packages in front of my door.

maybe you should take a gun to the post office and demand safe passage of your camera
