1) If I have a Thermaltake SLK-800 sitting on it?

I got a fan, but the holes don't match up to my A7N8X Deluxe. If I do need a fan, how do I put it on?
Question one is solved

2) My A7N8X Deluxe detects my lone WD Raptor as a secondary SATA device, eve though its in SATA slot 1. When WinXp Pro tries to setup, it says theres no HD, probalby because it on secondary. What do I do?

You don't bolt the fan to the motherboard. The heatsink comes with clips that clamp over the sides of the fan to hold it on. Here is an illustration:

Linkage

I believe that is what you were asking.

Is there a setting in the BIOS that gives you the ability to boot from Serial?
Also, is the drive partitioned and formatted?

I haven't got as far as trying to format it yet.

Thers no option that says you can or can't. The only thing in the manuel is instructions for setting up a raid 0 or 1. It also allows you to set the Serial ports to auto detect.

Ironically, I got it to see the HD as primary by setting it to the second serial port.

I noticed things are a little backwards on the A7N8X Deluxe... they may have labeled the SATA ports wrong in the manual and on the motherboard. They did that with the fan connectors too... I figured that out because I have the fan in the PSU connected to one, and a case fan to the other, and they run at differen speeds, case fan being faster... and it showed the PSU fan as the 2500 RPM fan, when it normally runs at 1500... so I switched them around and it's accurate now.

So where you ever able to get a SATA drive to boot from?
