Ok.. I'm a n00b Dumbass.. Help me with this.

Just installed a fresh new copy of WinXP for my bro's new comp. And I have 2 questions.

1. The LAN card is properly configured and the cable is connected. But how do I have my XP recognize the connection? (LAN connection in dorm)

2. When I give this PC to my bro tomorrow, will the connection setting work for his AT&T Cable @ his home?

your connection providers (school / isp) should have the information you need, and probably walkthroughs as well, you should contact them

As long as you have the TCP/IP set to Obtain IP Automatically, everything will be fine.

That's assuming that they use DHCP on the network.... which is pretty likely, but my old dorms used static IP's until last year.
