I bought marvel ultimate alliance and ghost recon advanced warfighter tonight along with a PNY Geforce 7600 GS 512, install went fine, cleaned the comp out, got my temps down a few degrees by getting all that dust out, updated the drivers etc etc, i install the games, and about 3-5 minutes into the game, the whole comp just freezes, everything, video, sound, etc etc. I cant seem to narrow down the problem, do i have a inncorrect setting somwhere, bad bios, drivers? Whats the deal? This card should be more then capable of handlin these two games dont you think?

oh and i will say this, i was just in the game again and it froze, and i sat there just thinkin while the soudn was repeating and all of the sudden the sound unfroze and i moved the mouse and i could hear the mouse cursur goin over the menu buttons, but the picture was frozen, now what could this mean? Is the card defective? This is my first time using DVI also, i used to use the analog ports on my old card, is this a dvi problem?

Here's something to try: open your computer case and aim a house fan into the side of it to provide big-time airflow. Try the games again, do they run OK now? Maybe it's a cooling problem.

I agree that it sounds like your video card is overheating, so try at least removing the side of the case & running the game to see if you have the same issue.

It could also be a marginal performing Power supply. A rail failing to perform to spec under load.

I did a format and erase of the hard drive last night and took the case sides off, works great now, but marvel ultimate alliance still causes the computer to freeze up some 15-30 minutes into the game. It has been suggested that my PSU is inadaquete and is getting too hot. I know for a fact that nothing else is getting too hot and i know its not the card, i actually returned the first one to best buy and exchanged it for another just in case and it did the same thing with the second one. Whatever the case, i decided to go out on a limb here and buy a new 450watt psu with dual +12v rails this time, one of the reccomended midrange PSU's on HardOCP's site, and i also decided to buy a new case and cooling system setup to try to cut back on some noise and improve airflow overall, since the case i use now looks like it litterally came from the dollar store.
