I had an old Maxtor drive that quit. I need a new drive. It needs to be ATA 100 or 133 It needs to be under $100. I was tinking Segate or Maxtor. But what should I use?

Seagate is a good choice. I use WD and occasionally retail Maxtors.

This is without shopping around, if you need a HDD sooner than later. Fry's has had some HDD deals, if you live near one, check out there. I don't remember specifics, but it seems like there have been some good HDD deals at a few stores lately; if you aren't in a hurry, shop around some.

maxtor 100gb is $19.99 after one $70 rebate @ office depot this week. hope this helps.

I would strongly recommend Seagate. My current role involves fixing the PCs we lease, and 90% of the time when a PC comes in for a hard drive replacement, the failed hard drive is a Maxtor. 🙁

I've had Seagate hard drives for years now without problems, and would recommend these. 🙂

I like Seagate drives too, I have had more WD's die than anything, then maxtors made in the last 3 or 4 years.
