Ok I need help here with RC5....

After doing quite a few WU's for S@H, I've been reading about helping out with the fight against DPC.
What I need is a good tutorial on setting up RC5 on 5 PC's. I have a TBird GHZ that will be the proxy for the other 4.
I'm assumming that I can get multiple units as in S@H so if my connection goes down or something similar I can keep on cracking.
Thanks in advance,

This should cover the basics: Paulson's tutorial on teamanandtech.com

The client will buffer units as you specify it too... you can choose between a set number and an amount defined in hours worth of work... just read it, and we'll answer any additional questions! 😎

Thanks for helping out!

Thanks for the link,

Ok I have all the machines set up:
TBird 1.25 GHz, TBird 1024 MHz, P3 800, Athlon 700 and a Duron at 800 ( for the time being stablilty issues )

Another question.
Is there a program to let you see how the program is doing, similar to setiwatch?

if you mean watch the crunching progress, if you double click on the cow in the systray, it'll pop up a window and show a little "crunch-o-meter" at the bottom, with percenteges as to how far it's done that particular WU

The client when not being "hidden" or installed as a service; has a screen that shows output.

dnet stats update once a day. If you flush through Mika's pproxy, you can get your stats every half-hour. If you flush through Jator's pproxy (which then goes to Mika), you can get day stats instantly.

Dnet is omce a day, when the stats server is working. 🙁 They've had some problems in the last month or so but seem to be working hard to get things straight.) Thank God for Mika in those times!

Can you explain that?
What has Mika to do with it?
I'm a complete newbie at this.
I guess I need the address to Mika's proxy and how is it done in the client?

Mika runs a personal proxy (pproxy). A pproxy is used to store and distribute large quantity's of rc5 packets over a network (or the internet). There is a program that takes the logs generated by the pproxy and makes a bunch of nice stats which you can see here.

The tutorial for setting up the client to flush to mika's is here.

Hope this helps! 🙂

I don't live on this board, I just camp the posts, they're a rare spawn.

(We were just talking about EverQuest at work 🙂 )

BTW the D.net stats start running around just after 6pm CST, they do OGR-24 & OGR-25 first with RC5 afterwards. I usually wait until after midnight or the next morning to check RC5 stats. They currently take quite a while to run. Mika on the other hand has stats updated constantly. 🙂 Every half-hour as previously stated.

Interesting to watch the keys per sec.
The TBird 1.25 GHz is doing 4.2 mkeys/sec
the TBird 1 GHz is doing 3.3 mkeys/sec
The P3 800 is doing 1.6 mkeys/sec
Athlon 700 2.2 mkeys/sec
Duron 800 2.3 mkeys/sec.

Why is the P3 doing so poorly?

Yep, something wrong with the P3 output. A P3 @ 800 should be pumping out about 2.2 mkeys/sec. Check to see what else is running...virus checker, fast find, seti, etc

Nice to see you're getting the hang of things SilverBack! I'd take a look at that T-Bird 1GHz too... seems just a tad too slow... should be more along the lines of 3.5 - 3.6 MKeys/s 😉 The duron 800 is a tad bit off too... mine cracks at 2.8 MKey/s... which indicates that your Athlon 700 might be a little slow too 😱

All those aside... SWEET herd you've got there!!

Welcome into the RC5 project.😛
Hate to see our Seti friends loose a member, but in the end it all benefits TA.

I'm confident we'll pick up some members for the Seti effort in the end.
Don't know how yet, but I'll come up with something.😛
