well before you strt I AM AN ATI FANBOY. so don't even suggest nvidia to me. I'm truly on a tight budget, but if i really need more cash i can get it. I'll be playign BF2 eith whatever res my monitor can handle, and other games as well, and remember, budget!

well u might as well go PCI-E then you can keep it when you upgrade later on

the best bang for your buck in the ATI camp has to be the X800XL

well, as tight as i can go and still play BF2 on med, and possibly high depending on how much it is....(yes i know it's rather high this way anyways...)

x800xl is a rival to the 6800GT, and i can get away with hi everything, except turn the lighting down a little (doesnt make too much diff) so i can use some much neeeded AA and AF

this is at 12x10 2xAA 8XAF and its very playable. i think anything less than a X800pro and you'd be having to turn more down. so ill stick with X800XL

i own a 6800GT btw

You sound like you're in about the same boat I was. I got a vanilla X800 for $130. I can play BF2 at mostly high settings and get average 40FPS which for me is plenty. So I would recommend the vanilla X800 or the X800GT, whichever you can find a better deal on. They both perform similarly. From what I hear you can get some nice overclocks on the X800GT. The vanilla X800 overclocks a bit but doesn't seem to be a great overclocker, though it depends on which brand you get and what kind of memory it has. I run mine at 415/430, up from the defaults of 390/350.

get a X800 Vanilla or if you better performance get the X800XL. the X800 can be found under $150 in some places while the XL can be bought for $229 at tigerdirect. and get PCI-e!!!

If you can get the X800PRO refurb deal from ATI for $179 then it's a good choice, but the regular price on those are like $235. It's not worth $100+ more than a X800/X800GT. You can get a MSI vanilla X800 for $120 after rebate.

If you only have $150 to spend, get an x800 (pci-e). I have one, and mine is oc'd from 390/700 to 440/950, and for that price nothing can beat it. If you have more to spend, the x800pro refurb might be a good idea, but with only days left from Ati launching new cards I suggest wait and see how the new cards measure up.

wait a few weeks after ATi's new cards come out and prices will drop for their pci-e cards. I cant guarentee you that for agp but for pci-e there will at least be some kind of drop. An x800xl will be probably around $200, or who knows you may like one of their new mid range cards better and will inspire you to save up sum more cash. Yummm now including sm3.0.
