Ok, i just deleted this folder.......

Hello,

I don't know what this folder is/was and ever since i deleted it, my system is acting weird. The first time i restarted my PC (after deletion of the folder) i got this message "The system has recovered from a serious error" and that 'tell microsoft about this/don't send' message appeared.

Now, sometimes when i start my system i still get that message. But the most weird of all is that my system restarts on its own almost once or twice everyday.

The folder was called ".jpi_cache" and it was located in F:\Documents and Settings\User_name\.jpi_cache (User_name here represents my name.)

The folder .jpi_cache also had two sub folder i.e., jar and file.

I don't know whether this was a part of windows., as windows is also installed on my F drive.

Any ideas........................any help.

heh it is a good question. I remember this one guy came back 30 mins after reinstalling his OS complaining it doesnt work anymore. He went ahead and tried to clean out some files and deleted his C:\windows directory. This was in Win98. This brilliant move cost him another 39.99 for an OS install lmao. And he complained about it like it was our fault he broke his computer.

Well, there is a reason.

My antivirus detected two trogan horse and two viruses in that folder and it was not able to remove/delete it. I remember getting a virus in that folder long ago, and i deleted the infected file but since that folder was constantly getting affected with viruses i deleted it competely.

It was a agressive move and only after deleting it i realised my mistake.

Any suggestions.............

As already stated, reinstall java. It will depend on what sites you browse, but if you run into problems then you can normally clear the Java cache files using the Control Panel applet
