and now I have all these funky options and settings to chose from, and the music sounds funny.. it sounds like it's in the background instead of being right there and full.

How do I install just the basic drivers? I don't want any of this fancy stuff.

You probably have the settings setup for quad speakers or something strange like that. And/or your bass/treble settings are at the minimum

bleh.

I tried to "repair" my install cause it was being funky, and it basically just reinstalled windows. :frown: Had to install drivers for the Live, and now it's all funkdified. I can't get it to sound like it used to before I did all this.

It was set to 4 speakers, but since I don't have any rear speakers, 2 and 4 sound exactly the same.

Actually, before I could barely move the bass/treble settings off minimum, or it would be too much for my stereo and I would get distortion, now they're at like 60 and 70% respectivly.. but it just doesen't sound the same.

It's not even as loud as it used to be at the same volume.

Are the speakers plugged all the way in? Are you using an external amplifier? If so, check if you've hooked up the speakers out of phase

do what i did... uninstall it (windows should put their native driver in its place)

then go find "KX Project Drivers" and install that over the native drivers

Yep, the native drivers and the KX are just peachy if you aren't doing any multichannel gaming with 3d audio, but if you are, I'm afraid you'll have to stick with the creative drivers.

Link to KX drivers, incase you are interested.

Heh, forgot about this thread and was just messing around, ended up deleting it and yep, windows reinstalled its own drivers. Don't know why it wasn't working after I first did the repair install.

Sounds much better now.
