You might want to experience your first fall down piss your pants drunk safely at home instead of at the nightclub after you realize you had too many of those purple drinks your friends have been feeding you while your trying to pick up some hotties.
And the next morning you'll also learn how it feels to pray to God please I swear I'll never drink again just make it stopppp blaaaaaaggg all over the side of the bed again :D

I had that moment off tequila after going to an 18 and over club that served alcohol to 21 and overs who had a wrist band. I was the only 21 year old in the group, so I drank while the others couldn't. Man was I drunk, I was hugging my friend's toilet later that night until about 5am. That was the first and last time I got that sick drinking, and that was 10 years ago (damn I'm getting old quick. :( )

Grab a cocktail shaker, cranberry juice, OJ , and a liter of Bombay Sapphire gin, and try a good gin & juice. Make sure to get decent quality juices-- I always go with the pulp free minute made that's fortified with vitamins and the cranberry juice w/calcium added. Might as well have a somewhat healthy drink :)

At this point I don't think you quite know what it's about for you. Some weekends "it's" about getting drunk...because it's fun. Some days it is about unwinding from work, etc..

Anyway, St Brendan's is much cheaper than Baileys and tastes equally good. It's very good in Coffee (great to share with your S.O., nustled in a blanket during the cold winters...hot chocolate is for suckers).

Beer: I prefer darks, amber and wheat beers. I recommend Killians, Molson Canadian, Guinness, Blue Moon, Fat Tire, Paulaner, Mississippi Mud, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Smithwick's (thanks for reminding me PaulNEPats), Boddington's, Yuengling, and many many more...but that's gives you an idea of the range of my tastes.

Liquor: My hard drink of choice is Greygoose and tonic. Recently I discovered mojitos, as curious as I was with all the hype about them. They can be great, or not so great (read too syrupy) depending on who's making them...but when they're good they're really good.

Wine: I like reds. Mostly Chiantis, Shiraz, Beaujellais. Not much of a Merlot fan, but I've had good ones here and there. White wines that I like a very few and far between, such that I don't even bother any more.

Just don't get into a habit of drinking 5-6 bottles of beer every night between 6 or 7 and 11. That's when it becomes a problem (ok, well maybe before that, but still). I've always considered being a "beer drinker" to correlate with becoming an alcoholic. You are no longer drinking for the taste, but rather the buzz and that's a problem (sorry, but no one can convince me that they drink beer because it tastes good :p).

i dont really drink any alchohol but beer. Maybe hard liqour if i want to get drunk fast..but thats almost never.

Beer:

Where do u live...find some good microbrews and try them all out. If you have a bar that brews near you go get a sampler.

Good beers for beginners I think are:
Bluemoon - its like candy
Sam Adams octoberfest should be out right? thats some good stuff
Stella Artois - a good light beer
Bin en Bitten or whatever its called - very crisp
Throw in a pale ale like harpoon to see if u like the darker stuff...if u like that go ahead and try a smithwicks or something.

Hehe. I'm not going to become a alcoholic, in fact, I hate the feeling of being drunk. Maybe I didn't get drunk enough but I was light headed and felt groggy, Pretty much the same feeling I get from a sugar crash (hypoglycemic) so I'm just going stick with one glass.

Gooberlx2, I'll try St Brendan's next time. Thanks.

i think you will find that MOST people that drink beer like the taste of it...
if youre just drinking to get drunk hard liquor will do the job faster and in smaller quantities...

nothing compares to a nice cold almost frozen beer.... ahhhhhhhhhhh

man its only 10am and already i wanna have a beer :p

Jack and coke is my favorite at the moment. Mojito's are real good but take some work to make. Vodka and cran is pretty good too.

Try everything once - including the girrly drinks. The way most people get used to beer is by going to a kegger where only the cheapest swill is available and drinking untill they don't taste it anymore. Some people advocate starting with the light (aka piss) beers as they have little flavor. I would go the other way and grab a Killians or other red beer. I find they are the best introductory beer. Great taste, but not overpowering to the novice like a guinness.

Good choice of beers. The only change I would make to the wines is that I go for the dry and only slightly/non - fruity ones.
