I'm sick of the rappers during Red-Cross telethons playing the race card. I'm tired of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and every other out of work civil rights leader playing the race card. My ears bleed when I have to hear Oprah go on about how people died because they were black. I weep when I have to listen to yet another "get whitey" newscast bemoaning how "the man" likes to drown people in NO because of their skin color.
I am fed up with this reverse racism crap especially when something like this hurricane happens. There are three critical failures concerning the hurricane in my eyes, and none of them have anything to do with racism. In fact the most critical failure was most likely done by a BLACK man.
Failure #1 Otherwise known as "Hi I live in a bathtub and my local officials had no plan or did not follow the plan to evacuate the city." I can almost guarantee the most critical failure was done by the Mayor of New Orleans, who is black. Instead of using transportation to empty New Orleans he elected to put them in the superdome ignoring all his "expertise" in the levee system not being able to withstand higher than a category 3 hurricane. Then he has the balls to start blaming other people when people start dying. Nice job Mayor! If this guy would have been white he would have been lynched by now but no he is giving Oprah a tour of the feces laden superdome.
Failure #2 Having people go to a fictitious evacuation point. Again this had to be the local/state officials idea to tell everyone to meet at the convention center and then watch as people die of dehydration on CNN. It almost equates to the dumba** suicide bombers and the promise of virgins in the afterlife but the irony is those virgins are just as likely to pop up as a cold beverage is at the New Orleans Hurricane Reilf Site. The people responsible for coming up with the idea and also the persons responsible for implementing it should be shot. If FEMA was in charge of caring for those people at that point in time they should have, if it was the Governors idea they should have followed through. Someone somewhere behind some big desk screwed up majorly here.
Failure #3 People are dying in New Orleans but I can't do anything because I'm not in charge. Once it was evident that local officials had no clue how to save their own people FEMA should have started dropping food and water to the Superdome and convention center. "But there are rules to follow, forms to sign..." Screw the red tape, when common sense dictates that you help or they will die. There were obviously some communication issues between state and federal authorities the main one being there wasn't any.
Ok so where does the race card come in? It friggin doesn't! The black mayor did the most damage followed by the white female governor and whatever other local politician that managed to drown half the city. The leadership at both the federal and local levels was non-existent until too late. People died because of poor response, planning, and because they were poor not because they were black. If black finger pointers are too blind too see "the facts" then screw off and go back to your free OJ rallies and leave us Americans that are non-race-riot-inciting-trolls alone.
