Norton AV keeps telling me different files are infected with nimda. It cleans them, and then says its ok. A couple minutes later, a completely different file in a different location is showing up. This has been going on now for about an hour. I tried a couple different nimda cleaners including the one from symantec. They either do not find anything or in the case of the symantec cleaner, just crash. It is Nimda.e and nimda.enc if that helps any. Thanks

If you are networked try disconnecting the cable and see if the problem persists after a new cleaning. If you get more infected files while disconnected than it is somewhere on your pc if you stop getting infected files after disconnecting then most likely it's coming from somewhere else on the network. If it's personal check your other machines if at work inform your IT what happened. As for cleaning it out I can't help much on that never had to clean out that version of Nimda.
Good luck

Are you letting it exclude ANY folders or files? If so, don't. Windows ME or XP have those System Restore files which can harbor viruses, too, so disable System Restore and nuke all the files associated with it. Empty the Recycle Bin too.

Nimba.E Removal Tool
This tool was specifically created to remove all traces of Nimba.E...

Delete all files that are detected as W32.Nimda.E@mm (dr) and W32.Nimda.enc and, if necessary, replace them with clean backup copies. For all files detected as W32.Nimda.E@mm and W32.Nimda.A@mm (html), click repair.

Hope this helps

**Edit: Now that I am completely reading your post, it seems you might have already tried this solution...**
