I think that if the performance AAA works like Transparent MS does on the Nvidia cards then it is working and you just don't notice it since it doesn't do that good of a job (negligible at best).

In somegames TRMS works well (Oblivion/Farcry come to mind) and in others, you need that extra TRSS to do the job (quality AAA).

Same thing happens on the Nvidia cards too so it may be something to do with the game engine but probably more to do with the MS portion of it and that it just doesn't do a good job at it (although on some transparent textures, TRMS does work in other source games, so now I'm confused :p)

I don't have an ATI card so I could be wrong, just stating what I've experience with TRMS on Nvidia cards.

Dont be a troll please. Your in no position to tell me that anyway ;)

Im not dissing ATi at all. Im pointing out to the fact that blaming the game devs for adaptive anti alasing not working makes NO sense. Its not the game engine, but rather how the algorithms work on the alpha textures.

Anyway, TRAA is better than AAA but X1900XT is better than the 7900GTX in terms of overall performance and IQ.

haha this thread was doing so well until one person who had a bad exp with the x1900 comes in. then the nvidiots join also.

The OP is just one person and that's all it takes.

I haven't had a bad experience with the X1900 series at all, I've been very pleased with it. Someone asked for some listings of some cons and I gave them the only one that really bothered me.

I would have said X1900 XT even w/ the loud stock cooler over 7900 GTX, but with Accelero X2, it's no contest.
X1900 XT ftw.

yeah, i can personally attest for the accelero memory pads working like super glue, god forbid i ever have to rma the card, but overall i love my x1900xt.

I would pick the 7900 GTX without hesitation - better drivers, better TrAA, full screen super-sampling, a quiet cooler, much lower power demands and a genuine driver level profile system.

ATi has the advantage with 6xAA and AF but I don't feel these offset nVidia's advantages.

The 7900 GTX is quite possibly the best video card I've ever used and it ranks right up there with the 9700 Pro. The 93.71 drivers running on it are what I consider a gold standard.

Broken Adaptive A-A ? Please explain and give examples.
Examples include but are not limited too:

[*]Blue haze in games like Far Cry (no such problems on nVidia).
[*]Blue vegetation in games like Chrome (no such problems on nVidia).
[*]Disappearing fine-grained detail like chain-link fences in Half-Life 2 (no such problems on nVidia).
[*]Less range of effect in games like 007 Nightfire (nVidia AAs the trees a longer distance than ATi does).
[*]Bigger performance hit in games like Descent 3 (next to zero performance hit on nVidia at identical settings).

It has to do with the game's engine, not the whole functionality in the hardware.
My examples have nothing to do with the game, they're ATi driver problems.

Yet nVIDIA's TRAA works on all games.
It works in more games but neither work in OpenGL (sadly :().

Performance AAA doesn't (multi-sampling adaptive AA).
Performance AAA isn't multi-sampling, it's super-sampling with less samples than quality.
