Mandrake 8.2, fresh install, and I'm still trying to get wireless working. I think I'm almost there, but there's a bunch of settings I'm not sure of.
It's asking for quite a few settings that I have no idea where to find. The access point is on channel 1.
I need to know where to find (or if I even need to put anything in the box):

Wireless_ESSID: I think this is just my network name.
Wireless_NWID: ?
Wireless_FREQ: ?
Wireless_SENS: ?
Wireless_RATE: I think this is just supposed to be 11 for 11mbits/sec (or does this need to be 11m?)
Wireless_ENC_KEY: The key to access my network
Wireless_RTS: ?
Wireless_FRAG: ?
Wireless_IWCONFIG: ?
Wireless_IWSPY: ?
Wireless_IWPRIV: ?

The few that I (think I) know I put up there, if anyone could help out with telling me what the rest mean or how to find them I would appreciate it. Also like I said, do I have to have something in every box?

EDIT: The kernel is 2.4.18, and the wireless driver it wants to use is wvlan_cs.

I got the same card working in Slackware 8.0 a few days ago. Here's something you can try:

1. become root
2. cd /usr/src/linux
3. make xconfig
4. Network device support > Wireless LAN (non hamradio)
5. Deselect EVERYTHING in this menu except for the "Hermes" options. This will prevent cardmgr from trying to use the wvlan_cs driver, which is the wrong driver.
6. OK, Main Menu, Save and exit
7. rm -rf /lib/modules/2.4.18(tab key)
8. time make dep modules modules_install bzImage
9. lilo
10. reboot

Ok I did all that, now I'm getting a bunch of failures when I start my laptop:
depmod
modprobe
some network error when trying to bring up interphase lo (and "some other device already has ip address 127.0.0.1")
sound

plus, no network support. When I pull up KDE and go to the network configuration it says that there are no networking devices installed.
