Need a good mobo for Socket A ( Duron Id say ) but I have 2 ISA items Im clinging to life with . I need 1 ISA for my Ol 56k hardware modem and the other for a SCSI adapter card for a HP scanner I have . I know the ISA slots are getting slim out there , but I need 2 slots till my area gets DSL , then Ill need just the last 1 . I guess Im too cheap to get a USB scanner when my scanner has been barely used . If you could , keep the mobo's good but cheap , Thanks ...

I dont think there are any with 2 isa slots I know some have one(these are rare) but I dont think any have 2. Go looks at socket a mobo comparisions on the net and try to find one with 2 isa slots. Good luck

I don't think there will be any. The VIA 686A south bridge ONLY has one PCI/ISA bridge, with means there will be only 1 ISA slot at most.... It would be too costly for manufacturer to include another ISA slot where it is really being elimated.

maybe you can start thinking about a PCI winmodem...

I don't think there's even a Socket A with a single ISA, albeit 2.

oh wait, Chaintech has one, Epox's has one, gigabyte's has one, so is QDI's
check them out here. [l]http://www2.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1294&p=8[/l]

The scanner should work on a cheap SCSI PCI card, not sure which one to reccommend. I bought the Abit KT7 for the same reason (HP scanner card). Luckily I have DSL :)

I didnt think about a PCI SCSI card for the scanner , I guess I can surf HP's site and maybe Ill get lucky to find something that will work so I can judge a purchase off it elsewhere . My system is calling it a HP C5110A , I can't remember the scanner actual number , but we shall look .

Chances are that's an HP 5P or 5PSE scanner. That will work with any Ultra SCSI card (20MB/s). In fact I know where you can get an Adaptec 2930C PCI Ultra SCSI card for $40. :)

I doubt you'll find a card on HP's website that'll do the trick. I wouldn't even bother.

Yep , its a 5p and HP's site is useless . Only thing they show is ISA interface cards which is pretty useless for me . Why do I have to live in hell where there is no DSL and Time Warner is the only rip-off cable company around .....
I could just about get a USB scanner for what a card will cost me .........

Yes, but you could also use the SCSI card for a SCSI CD-Burner if a good deal comes up. Of course you could also get a USB or PCI hardware modem and not mess with the PCI SCSI.

There is only one ISA slot possible with the current socket-a mobo'. I just purchased an Abit KT7 which has one isa slot for my ISA hardware modem. I would say just upgrade to a pci modem. Most of them are winmodems but as long as you get a good one like one based on the lucent lt chipset (which is actually like a pseudo winmodem that does some stuff on hardware and some on software) it will perform the same as most hardware modems and they only go for like $20 shipped.

Lemondrop, I'm running an HP C5110A (which a 5P) in Win98, on a PCI SCSI Ultra card, w/ no problems. The biggest problem I had was switching from Win95 to 98. The HP software wouldn't work in 98, and I had to get a CD from HP.

and now you have to get a CD again from HP is you want to use HP anything in win2k... HP is great... I will never ever understand why a driver can't be d/l from the web. Take a guess why...:|
