OK, I finally got my XP-90. Used some alcohol on a Q-Tip to wipe the old crap off from the CPU and also cleaned the base of the HSF with it. Screwed on the retention clip, then applied some AS5 (well, it was kinda of a guck, not exactly a round viscous ball/dot shape. it was err, full of strands somewhat). Attached HSF, and up and running.

TEMPS BEFORE
1.55 vCore 240 HTT x 10
Idle - 41*C
Load - 63-65*C

TEMPS AFTER
1.5750 vcore 250 HTT x 10
Idle - 36-38*C
Load - 59-60*C

Considering I raised my HTT by 10, and increased my vcore, these temps are good right? And plus my board can be off by up to 12*C, so these are good temps. Seems to be running Prime95 stable. Shhh, knowing my luck, I'll jinx it.

Abit AV8 + AMD 3200+
And yes I jinxed it, failed after 17 minutes. Yes I know I have a poor OC.

yes, might need more voltage, i'll play around with it and try to get it stable. this post is not about getting it stable, it's about the temps and if I applied AS5 correctly. I put ever so slightly more than the "O" on a standard keyboard, or a little smaller than the "D" in the DVD-ROM logo on a DVD Optical Drive. Only thing was, it wasn't uniform a uniform "ball" or "lump" if you will before I put the XP-90 on top of it. I let the pressure from the HSF do the work and spread it (I didn't spread it myself).

i touched my CPU and it's quite cool to the touch. it's a tiny bit warm, but i expected it to be hotter (mind you, this is while it's in full load). It's MUCH cooler than leather seats in a car that has been under the sun for hours.

What kind of temps do you get at stock speeds?

My 3400+ 939 never goes above 54 with zalman 7000a alcu

BTW - that is some pretty high voltage for a winnie. Most people will advise you not to go over 1.55 (even 1.5 should probably do it). You don't ant to give it to much voltage. Maybe try backing down to 1.45 and raising it by .025 at a time if needed. You want to run the highest speed at the lowest vcore.

I got that same week but its a 3000 winnie, oc's to 9x280 without a hitch, low voltage too at 1.48 or something, not above or equal to 1.50.

Those load temps are pretty high, before and after the HS change. 60? Is that normal? Anyone else got temps like that?

for winnies most recommend no more than 1.65v..so voltage should be fine..temps are ok..just no good way to compare between mobos or systems

also I have seen no reports of sudden death related to voltages at 1.65v..at extremesystems ...they really push and they kill cpus with 1.8v, extreme cooling etc....

well, I already know right off the bat that the temps are fine, because I touched the HSF and it's barely warm. Quite cool actually. The diodes are screwed up.

And about the voltage... my CPU needs that kind of voltage to stay stable. Nothing I can do about that. I've been running CPU burn-in with sentenial's method of getting the CPU to operate at lower vcore, but it's a very, very slow process.

I  my XP-90. Cooled my CPU like crazy and quieted it down a LOT, too. I can sleep with my comp under load.

Well, I need 1.6 volts to stay stable at 2500MHz. So I can probably reach 2600MHz at or under 1.65 volts. Running a higher frequency and using a higher vcore still yields temperature 5 degrees Centigrade lower than my stock HSF.

My XP-90 has only midly improved the temperatures over the stock cooler, but this is with a Panaflo 80mm L1A. I am at 1.36v, 2.25GHz, and the highest temperature after 15 minutes of CPUburn K7 is 48C.

Well, it's rock stable, 12 hours Prime torture test, so I'm happy, for now... Can't help it but want to overclock more.

Last question. Like I said before, I put a slightly less than the size of the "D' in the DVD logo in the center of an optical drive of AS5. Did I put too much?`
