OK for fan cable to come into contact with HS?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm a complete n00b and want to make sure I didn't screw anything up in my first build. I have a core i7 920 and a Prolimatech Megahalems cooler. Is it OK if the wire from the fan mounted on the HS comes into contact with the HS itself, or do I need to find a way to route the fan cable so that it doesn't touch the HS? My concern is that the heat coming off the heatsink could melt the fan cable.

Is that a valid concern or is that not a problem?

ur sink will not get hot enough to cause your wire to melt.

i would personally be more worried about your wire getting caught inside the fan blade while it was on, then your wire touching a base of the sink. 😛

Buy some zip-ties, their cheap and will do great things. Cable management is one of the simplest things you can do to improve the inside of the cases airflow and appearance.

+1 on that. I've shredded a wire with a heatsink. Not fun, when you have to go out and buy another replacement heatsink fan, because of the proprietary fan mounts. *Stupid AC Freezer Pro 7*

EDIT: missed a word

Well I've been running Prime95 for the past 20 hours and so far everything's fine. If the cable was going to melt, I guess it would've happened by now.

as someone said if your cable was to melt, you'd have bigger problems then a melted cable.
