there is a difference between ABRUPT and RUDE.

he was ABRUPT he wasn't RUDE.

he just didn't want to have to re type everything.

btw, isn't it just as rude of the buyer NOT to read the post sent to him?

What evidence is there that he didn't read the initial post? He didn't remember that EYE2K had provided his heatware address already? That, my friend, is a simple mistake ANY of us could have made. Sometimes you're reading something fast and you miss out on some piece of info that was provided. And I don't see how you could justify it based on your assumption that he might ask 20 more questions that were also initially provided.

I can understand EYE2K's response if the guy asked a couple of questions that were already answered, but once is a simple human mistake you have all probably made yourselves.

And I'm not saying I would be offended in such a case, but like Entity said, in such an atmosphere you are the seller and politeness is very important.

Given all that, just answering the buyer's question would have been the best course of action.

you answered your own question didn't you. his response cut OFF other questions, which was the INTENT of the response, if your going to make a mistake, go back and REREAD the original post which will answer all the basic questions that come up in a TRADE.

That ISN'T RUDE, that's just abrupt. it's also the truth. but i guess truth is not as important as the perception of "rudeness"

this is part of the pussification of america.

if u go to dictionary.com and look up abrupt, it gives this def: Surprisingly curt; brusque. if u look up curt, it says: Rudely brief or abrupt. if u look up brusque it says: discourteously blunt

so yeah, thanks for proving to us that he was rude. :p but anyways, that's not the point. i admit he wasn't super rude, but he was slightly rude. online u can interpret things differently from the way you meant it. as i pointed out there was an easier way to reply without appearing rude at all. and besides, this is all opinion and how you grew up. if you grew up around people with no manners or who were rude all the time this could be the norm for you, but maybe others weren't brought up like that and they are more sensitive to what you say. who knows! i, along with many other people, seem to agree there was a sense of rudeness (be it only slightly) and that's our opinion.

anyways, this whole thing seems to be blown out of proportion. it was stupid of the buyer to make such a big deal out of one comment but if you notice, the seller seems to be making a big deal out of it too.

If i was the buyer, i would have just said oops sorry..i missed it in your last post
and if i was the seller, i would have just been like oh well, if he doens't want it cuz of something that stupid, then forget him..there are other buyers and move on rather than making a post about how this "rubbed him the wrong way"

Here I'm going to put it another way for you.

You walk into Best Buy to purchase a TV set. You're checking out the 50" Pioneer plasma when the salesperson sees you reading the shelf tag that describes all the features of that model model. He comes up and asks if you have any questions. You ask him how long the warranty is on the Pioneer and he says "eh, didnt u read the shelf tag? I know it was long but all the info u needed was in there" and walks away.

Not a perfect example, but hopefully you will understand that when you're selling something, it's your JOB to be polite about it. In a market, a seller can choose from any number of merchants selling the exact same thing. Even if they ask stupid questions, if you want them to buy from you, be NICE. If that bothers you, don't go into sales, or put up with the reality that you may lose customers as a result.

nah i call it 100% customer satisfaction. the buyer asked "what is yours under". his reply could have been 4 keystrokes (his name)... i dont see how it could be less abrupt than that.

regardless if it was "rude" or not, should be up to the seller to go the extra mile and be nice (he is trying to sell something after all, and he did initiate the sale).

how much do u think salespeople would make if they responded like that to every dumb customer who walked into their store?

customer: so how much is this again?
salesperson: i already told u

you've got to learn to deal with such imbeciles if you want to be successful selling anything on the net. you can be rude/flippant/'abrupt'/whatever to them if you'd like, but don't whine when they don't buy your goods.
