OK, enough is enough. I use Outlook Express. How do I cut down on the spam?

I now get about 10 spam emails for every one I want. What are people using to cut down on this these days?

Thanks. Never had to bother with it before. Now all I have to do to get rid of 4/5 of it was add "penis" "viagra" and "enlargement", oh Nigeria too. What a friggin sad state of affairs.

Get your own domain and host it someplace that has SpamAssassin. My spam went from about 40-50/day to about 6-7.

I have absolutely positively no spam on my email account from my ISP. Its the email i registered with AT from too. I use it for just about everything (except registering for free items, give aways, stuff like that...) I think it has something to do with the name you choose. I've created accounts on my ISP email, and they get spammed immediately. I've had this name for a couple years now, and no spam.

once you get it trained up, it works great.

That's the whole point, since it learns what terms do and do not show up in junk mail and in what patterns.

so when junk mail comes in, you mark it junk? i already have it set to delete tagged junk, but it will remember patterns?

I agree, spam assassin has been working wonderfully for me. If you have a domain or can purchase one ($9 a year) I would be glad to help you out by hosting it for free.

Someone in another thread turned me onto some little freeware called K9 it seems to work well, and doesnt take too much to configure it.

Don't browse p0rn and don't give out your email address.

Seriously, I have gotten 2 spam messages TOTAL in my ISP email account. [b[TWO[/b]. I've had that account for over a year and a half. I get about 2 message per day (this is private email) and they are all messages that I am expecting. I've used outlook express for about 1 year, and Office Outlook for about a half year.

So yes, it can be done.

Spam Assassin on mail server + Outlook 2003 + SpamBayes = no spam to inbox. Not one. I love it!
