OK, does the Radeon 8500 come with a DVD player?

I hear all this talk about how great the DVD playback is on the Radeon. Does it come with a DVD player or is everyone referring to just PowerDVD?

yes all ATi retail cards come with software, which inlcudes their MMC (multimedia center) and DVD player.

you can get the full benefit of ATi's great Hardware Acceleration of DVD playback with WinDVD (i don't know about PowerDVD) as well.

Yep, the retail box comes with ATI DVD player 5 thats really Cinemaster 4 player.

You can also download the latest DVD software from the ATI website, but when you try to install it, it asks for the "CD ID #", so you do need a copy of the original installation CD.
