Ok can someone tell me how this account got on my computer?

That's a normal account to have on a PC with .NET 1.x or 2.x installed. It's an available update from Microsoft, the .NET framework. Or you might have obtained it when installing various software packages.

Some versions of Ghost will install it, as will DriveImage. Installing various Microsoft development software will definitely install it. So will some ATI video driver management systems.
 
When I installed Norton Ghost, it added a .NET user to the userlist for ghosting over the network. Did you install any programs recently that might have added the .NET user?
 
Recent versions of Norton Ghost require the .Net framework, which is what creates that account. Ghost does not create the account, per-se. It installs (or requires that you install) the .Net framework.
