I was showing a friend a crucial 512 DDR stick of RAM at Newegg, and he asked what "64x64" meant. Well, it doesn't add up to 512, that's for sure.

What the hell does it mean?

DDR PC2100 ? CL=2.5 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 7.5ns ? 2.5V ? 64Meg x 64

Who do I turn my geek badge in to?

I think it has something to do with the types of chips on the PCB.

But I could be wrong.

In fact, you should probably ignore this post as it may just confuse you even more.

Forget I said anything. :p

yep cuz your special :p

I believe that refers to how the memory cells are arranged...basically a 64 by 64 matrix

ya know how the memeory is addressed kinda like 'this memory location has an address of column x row x'

Ok call me an idiot, but what does 64x64 mean?

You too!?

If you add 64+64 then multiply by 4 it gets 512. I don't know if that's right though.

Huh?

64+64=128
128*4 = 512

Yeah, I got that, but it don't make no sense. (like my double negative?)
