Ok baffled here on a DV6000

I bought a used hp notebook. He told me the cdrom was dead. Ok fine, no biggie, i have one. However, i replaced it and it still doesnt show up. Any ideas? I dont believe its disabled in the bios....

Also, i loaded a new os on it after trying the stock vista image that came with it. Not an os issue...

Could be the OS. I have had this happen and used this fix:

+1 on that. We did that all the time when I worked with Firedog. Fixed just about every undetected optical drive issue customers had.
