I once mixed The Works with Crystal Drano though. That was pretty wild. I don't know if you can even buy Crystal Drano anymore, that was some wicked stuff. I'm pretty The Works is considerably weaker these days too. Bah!

one of my brothers former friends was making some bombs using the works and got arrested over the weekend, appearently it worked well enough for him.

They're made out of gunpowder and flint wrapped in thin paper, I think.

If you mix in matchheads it makes it a bit more firey.

Nope, however, I once had a string of 8000 firecrackers that I lit. It burned for over a minute and was over 100 feet long.

Never, but I just set a paper bag of 1000 black cats on fire in the middle of the street. It was pretty nice :)

Each year Between January and May , I would go to Porter Indiana with some friends, and we would Go to Sheltons fireworks warehouse. When I was < 16, My father took me and usually one or two friends. Back when I was 16, 17, and 18, I had no real responsibillities and worked full time in the summer. I wound up having spare money.

I went during the "off" season, as sheltons usually has everything at 1/2 the marked price all year, except for like, June and July, as well as sometimes In late December.

We would go, and I would spend about $200 to $350 each year during 1996 to 1998.
Most of the stuff I'd buy were the boxes that come with a tube, and 6 projectile morters, and a few of the big finale type things. But I'd always leave with at least 5 grosses of bottle rockets (a gross is 12 packs of 12, for 144 rockets), usually at least 1 gross would have a whistle, and one gross would be the tracers that leave a lot of extra smoke. I would alsa always buy at least 4 bricks of firecrackers. (the first few years I went, a brick was 80 packs of 16 (1280 firecrackers)), however, by 1996, they carried bricks that were 40 packs of 100. They also usually have great big giant rolls of firecrackers that go up to 25,000 .... The biggest roll I ever purchased was the 8000 firecracker one.

I used to go up to where my grandparents live in Door County Wisconsin for the weekend of the fourth, and I'd spend 12 hours or more per day playing with various fireworks, and bonfires.

It was a blast, but nowadays I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to. I still love the big bangs, but it seems like a waste of time and money ....
